Some years ago, I spoke on a sustainability panel alongside some incredible industry leaders. It was encouraging to see the progress brands have made over the years, particularly around more thoughtful ways to source and create ingredients. Biotechnology and greener production methods for ingredients and responsible sourcing were creating a scalable solution to an expanding problem.
Yet, when it came to sustainable packaging progress, we’d hear crickets in
the room, followed by sentiments of all of the complexities. While there are some promising solutions, including refillable packaging or recyclable material incorporation, options are limited when it comes to scalability. And we get it. Undoing decades of processes can be a lot more complicated than starting from scratch.
In creating CMPRESSD Beauty, the goal was to build from a sustainable foundation, where a set of core values would simplify decision making as it relates to our overall impact.
Supply Chain
- Our formulas, cartons, travel cases and shippers are manufactured in the United States, and the majority of our ingredients are also domestically produced within close proximity to our manufacturing site.
- Once the bars are finished and packed, they travel by ground transportation to our point of distribution in California.
Packaging Recyclability
- Each of our bar products keep approximately 3 bottles from needing to be produced.
- Our cartons are made from recycled newsprint and may be recycled or composted.
- The shipper boxes are also made from recycled materials.
- Our conditioner bars are wrapped with glassine, a fully compostable and recyclable paper material.
Ingredients
- We are thoughtful in the amount of ingredients we use, as well as the quality of each material. We keep the majority of our key functional ingredients sourced and stocked domestically
